H2O Proficiency:
- Shallow and deep dives
- TWO different entries
- Entry with an aid and swim 25m, head- up freestyle or breaststroke. Assume the ready position and demonstrate the ability to scull forward and backward, and to turn
- Demonstrate defence methods from the front, side and rear
- Demonstrate eggbeater kick, showing the ability to travel and to change direction and height levels
- Demonstrate legs only for 25m, with a 4.5 kg object, using any choice of lifesaving kick
- Demonstrate a roll-entry, wearing a long-sleeved shirt and long pants.
- Demonstrate head up approach into a head-first surface dive, to a maximum depth of 2m
- Demonstrate, in shallow water, the ability to turn a victim face-up and to support his or her face above the surface
- Complete a 600m workout at least three times
- Swim 300m in 9 minutes or better using any combination of strokes
First Aid:
- Demonstrate primary assessment
- External bleeding
- Treatment of an unconscious victim
- Performs a rescue of a victim
Recognition & Rescue:
- Demonstrate the ability to perform and recognize whistle signals
- Perform a rescue of a weak swimmer or non-swimmer, with a towing aid
- Swim 20m approach and tow the victim to safety, showing the ability to avoid contact
Comments:
Bring a bathing suit, flip flops, goggles and a bathing cap (AquaCenter & Trinity have goggles and swim caps for sale).
